Lido's Santa Maria glides past Mount Arbel. In 1187, on the flat plateau of Arbel, Crusader knights were roundly defeated in man to man combat by the forces of Saladin. At the foot of Mount Arbel lies the village of Migdal, home of Mary Magdalene. During a drought some years ago in this area, a well-preserved 2,000 year old wooden fishing boat was discovered embedded in the mud at the edge of the lake which is on display.
